Step 2 Sensor Coil Running Tests Using C.DVoltmeter and Adapter
Sensor Coil Output TestSeparate the five-wire connector and plug both ends into the adapterSet the voltmeter switches to "+" and "50 Turn all adapter switches ONote
Route all tester leads so they do not interfere with moving engine parts
APlace the meter black lead in jack "S Place the
meter red lead in jack "C Start the engine and run at RPM where problem existsObserve the meterStop the engineSReverse the meter leads to jacks "C" and "S Start the engine and run at RPM where problem existsObserve the meterStop the engine
If the meter indicates continuous reading of 6.0 volts or higher on both tests, the sensor coil is OK Proceed to Step 3Power Pack Running Tests Using C.DVoltmeter No indication on the meter in the above steps, refer to Sensor Coil Ground Test Sensor Coil Ground Test- With the five-wire connector connected to the adapter, turn all adapter switches OFF Set the voltmeter switches to "S" and "5 If using Merc-O-Tronic Model 781 voltmeter, set the switches to "POS" and "5
