Step 1 Charge Coil Running Tests Using C.DVoltmeter and Adapter

Charge Coil Output TestSeparate the five-wire connector and plug both ends into the adapterSet the voltmeter switches to "-and "500 Turn all the adapter switches to ON

APlace the meter red lead in jack "Aand the meter black lead in jack "D Start the engine and run at RPM where problem existsObserve the meterStop the engine

If the meter indicates continuous reading of 250 volts or higher, the charge coil is OKProceed to Step 2Sensor Coil Running Tests Using C.DVoltmeter and Adapter No or low meter reading, refer to Charge Coil Ground Test Charge Coil Ground TestTurn all adapter switches OFFSet he voltmeter switches to "-" and "500 AClip the meter black lead to clean engine ground Place the meter red lead in jack "A Crank the engine and observe the meterBMove the red lead to jack "D Crank the engine and observe the meter The meter should not indicate reading when the meter red lead is in either of the jacks Any needle movement on the meter means the charge coil or its leads are grounded Locate the ground and repair, or replace the charge coilCIf the meter shows no needle movement, connect the meter red lead to jackA" and the meter black lead to jack "D With all adapter switches OFF, crank engine and observe the meter If the meter indicates 230 volts or higher, the charge coil is OKProceed to Step 2Sensor Coil Running Test Using .D Voltmeter and Adapter If no or low meter reading, replace the charge coil
