Colt, Junior and 4BR ModelsConnect the black lead of the tester to the ground lead of the coilConnect the red lead of the tester to the coil's breaker point lead Connect the high tension lead of the tester to the coil's secondary terminalTurn on the meter and slowly increase the coil currentNote the meter reading when the spark jumps gap steadily steady spark at or before maximum specified amperage indicates good coil If steady spark does not occur at or before maximum amperage, replace the coil
