16Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to the threads of the shift rod cover screwsInstall the screwsTighten the screws to torque of 60-84 inIbs(7-9 Nm)
17On standard shaft modelsPlace the gearcase cover seal on the shift rod coverOn long shaft modelsInstall the shift rod seal as follows: Lightly apply OMC Triple-Guard grease to the shift rod starting about in(7,6 cm) above the shift rod cover Slide the shift rod seal down the shift rod and onto the shift rod coverUsing new tie strap, secure the seal to the cover
18Position the driveshaft thrust bearingwasherand shim(s) onto the driveshaft
