Cleaning, Inspection and RepairAll Models 1Clean all parts with parts cleaning solvent and dry with compressed airAll nut and screw threads coated with OMC Screw Lock or OMC Nut Lock must be thoroughly cleaned before reassembly
INote Use OMC Gasket Sealing Compoundiningearcase bearing bores or around metal case of all pressed-in seals
housing and impeller housing Make no dry assembliesLubricate bearings, O-rings, shafts and gears with OMC Hi-Vis gearcase lube When using thread locking adhesive, be sure to prime the adhesion surfaces with Locquic Primer Liberally apply OMC Triple-Guard grease between seals When installing roller bearings, always press against lettered side of bearing2Discard all seals, O-rings, and gasketsIf damaged, remove and discard the pinion bearing and the propeller shaft housing bearingsIf upper driveshaft bearing is worn, replace bearing and housing assembly3Inspect driveshaft splines for wearA gearcase bent from striking submerged obstruction can cause extensive damage to driveshaft splinesReplace driveshaft if wornIf driveshaft splines are worn, inspect crankshaft splines for possible damageA bent gearcase or exhaust housing will cause upper driveshaft splines to wear excessively, and will also damage crankshaft splines
