DTest the power pack output to the No.2 ignition coil as described aboveETo remove the terminal extender from the ignition coil primary terminal, turn the extender in clockwise direction and pull offFInstall power pack primary leads on ignition coil terminalsObserve wire routing and ignition timing: orangeblue lead to the No.1 ignition coilMaximum Spark Advance It is possible for the ignition system to produce good spark and yet the engine will not startIf the engine "pops" or "backfires" during starting attempts, the ignition timing could be 180 degrees offCheck the following: 1Sensor Wire PositioningOn the five-wire connector between the armature plate and power pack, be sure the whiteblack wire is located in the "B" terminal of both connector halves2Ignition Coil Wire PositioningBe sure the orangeblue lead from the power pack is connected to the top (No.1) ignition coil3Flywheel and Flywheel Key ConditionIf the flywheel is out of position due to damaged crankshaft or flywheel tapers, or sheared flywheel key, the ignition timing will be affectedRefer to Section 1, Synchronization and Linkage Adjustments Before checking the engine for maximum spark advance, refer to Section 1, Synchronization and Linkage Adjustmen sPerform the adjustments in the order listed :;j
