VRO Unit For functional tests of the VRO units, refer to Testing Fuel System, this SectionTo verify oil consumption and proper fueloil ratios, proceed as outlined

To avoid accidental starting of engine while changing propellers, twist and remove all spark plug leads
1Install the proper test propeller and put engine in suitable test tank2Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperatureStop the engine3 Carefully remove the oil supply hose from the VRO oil inlet fitting
E.J vinyl hose as shownThe hose should have three inches
accurately identified in 12 inincrements5Fill the hose with Evinrude or Johnson Outboard Lubricant and run the engine to eliminate any air at the base of the hose6Monitor the number of VRO cycles by using fuel pressure gauge or putting light finger pressure on the outlet hose At full throttle, the VRO unit should exhaust one inch column of oil in approximately three pulses At 800 RPM, the VRO unit should exhaust one inch column of oil in approximately nine pulses
