d Using OMC Special Tool PI 390063 (Check Valve Tester) and gearcase pressure tester, pressure check the valves Lightly oil the a-ring of the valve, and thread the valve into the testerPressurize the valve to 207 kPa (30 psi) The valves should hold pressure indefinitely48Using OMC Special Tool PIN 324958 (Trim Cylinder End Cap Remover) and breaker bar, remove both of the trim cylinder end caps49Remove the outside seals from the trim cylinder end capsThere is an a-ring and back-up ring one of two different designsNewer nylon seals will be continuous ring of nylonOlder seals are split50Using smooth flat tool, remove the scraper from the trim end capPry the scraper out of the groove in the end capDiscard the scrapers51Using the same smooth flat tool, remove the -ring from the end capsDiscard the a-ringsClean both end caps and scrape all corrosion or loose paint from the threads in the outside a-ring area52 There are two different types of seals in the trim end capsThe one pictured on the left is an O-ring The one pictured on the right is quad-ring The quad-ring is the most current type of seal and replaces the -ring for service 53Oil and install new quad-ring in the groove in the trim end capsOil and install new scraper To aid in the installation of the scraper, warm up the scraper in hot waterCOA2481
