1Be sure the manual release valve is screwed in all the wayRemove the retaining ring using Truarc Pliers (OMC Special Tool PIN 303857)Remove the manual release valve2Inspect the O-ring the manual release valve for nicks and cutsInspect the rubber tip of the valve for tears
Remove the oil level plug

from the oil reservoir
4Inspect the O-ring on the reservoir plugReplace the O-ring if necessary5Remove the two rigid steel lines connecting the top and bottom of the tilt cylinder to the manifold When removing the line from the top of the tilt cylinder, you will have to hold the tilt cylinder band nut with one wrench while removing the line con nector with another6Both hydraulic lines have O-rings at either endInspect all four O-rings and replace O-rings if necessary7Position the unit as shownSlide the tilt cylinder retaining pin out of the unitRemove the tilt cylinderVery carefully and slowly, cycle the cylinder once or twice while aiming the oil feed ports down toward the oil drain panRemove the two nylon bushings from the cylinder8Currently there are two styles of tilt cylinders being used interchangeablyIdentify which one you have prior to making any repairs or selecting replacement partsThe cylinder shown at the top of the figure is referred to as the Showa brand cylinderThe cylinder shown at the bottom of the figure is referred to as the Presto lite brand cylinderWhen replacing an entire cylinder, either one can be usedWhen replacing individual parts including the band and band nut, only those specified in the parts catalog for that particular brand must be used10-21
