4Connect ohmmeter red lead to ignition switch "M" terminal (raised terminal)5Turn key switch to "On" position 6Place cap and lanyard assembly on emergency ignition cut-off switchOhmmeter should indicate an open circuitIf ohmmeter indicates short circuit (continuity), remove blackyellow lead going to emergency ignition cut-off switch from key switchRecheck with ohmmeter red lead to blackyellow lead just removedIf ohmmeter indicates continuity, emergency ignition cut-off switch is defective and must be replacedIf ohmmeter indicates an open circuit, key switch should be tested

7 fWith ohmmeter still connected, pull cap and lanyard assembly off switchOhmmeter should indicate continuityTrim and Tilt Function Test Test operation of TrimTilt switch Switch is marked "UP" and "ON" (Down)If pressing "DN" does not lower motor, or if pressing "UP" does not raise motor, check switch-to-motor connectionIf switch still does not activate motor tilt unit, refer to Section 10, Power Tilt and Trim for troubleshooting proceduresOn Water Tests rN=t=llnstall OMC Flushing Adapter Kit to operate out of water on trailer or dolly to prevent overheating damage to engineWhen an OMC Flushing Adapter Kit is used, remove the propeller before starting engine to prevent accidental contact with moving propellerAlways turn water on before starti ng engi neControl water pressu re as fu II water pressure may cause damage to engine
