Test Operation of Remote Control Disconnect charge coil to power pack connector(s) and all spark plug leads on engine before performing neutral start test

Running engine out of water, even momentarily, will damage water pump and eventually cause powerhead damageDo not attempt to shift gears without rotating propeller when engine is not runningDamage to shift linkage may resultKeep all bystanders clear of propeller when performing the tests described below
Neutral Position Test Place control handle in center detent positionThis is "Neutral" position of the control handleRotate propellerIf propeller does "" not rotate freely in both directions, inspect installation of remote control cables to insure that the control cables are attached to the proper engine levers If cables are attached to the proper levers, disconnect cables from levers and manually shift gearcaseIf gearcase functions properly, service remote controlIf gearcase does not function properly, service gearcase
Start-in-Neutral-Only Test These remote controls are designed to allow starting in "Neutral" onlyIf control handle is in an "in gear" mode, engine should not crankTest to make certain engine will not crank in any "Forward" or "Reverse" gear positions, and will crank only in "Neutral" position of the control handleTo test neutra start switch: To prevent accidental starting of engine, disconnect charge coil connector(s) between the stator assembly and powerpack(s)1
