Assembly of Starter MotorAll Models 1Lubricate the armature shaft with one drop of SAE No10 oilLubricate pinion helix on armature shaft with Anderol 7662If removed, install retaining ring end of armature shaft
and washer on drive
3Assemble drive end cap pinionanti-drift spring and spacer to drive end of armature shaftInstall new locknutUsing strap wrench to prevent damage to armature, tighten nut to torque of 27-34 Nm (20-25 ftIbs4Assemble armature to frame and field assembly, aligning marks on drive cap end and frame5Install insulated brush and terminal set in commutator end cap with long lead in slotPosition the insulatorsflat washer lockwasher Q) and nut as shown in figure
Note Reversing these brushes will set motor to run backwards6Install brush holder
