Starter Circuit Check65 Tiller Electric With Push Button Start
Before troubleshooting, place the shift lever in "Neutral" position If the engine does not turn over (cranks) proceed in checking condition of the batteryInspect the battery cables and leads for worn insulationCheck all connections making sure they are tight and clean
Procedure Remove black lead from ground
Result aIf meter does not read any voltage, proceed to STEP 2bIf meter reads 12 volts (battery voltage) reconnect black lead to ground and proceed to STEP 6
Check voltage between ground and point

Steps thruRemove starter to solenoid cable from check point
nect voltmeter between point
and common engine
prevent starter engagement while making checks
groundPress start switch Voltmeter should show 12 volts (battery voltage)Connect meter at start switch
Check voltage between ground and point
aIf meter reads 12 volts (battery Voltage), lead is open between
bIf no reading, proceed to STEP 3
