Battery Specifications

Maintenance free (sealed type) batteries are only recome mended for use on charging systems equ ipped with rectifierregulator assembly (100 and 155 power trim and tilt models)Maintenance free batteries are not recommended for use on 100 manual tilt and all 65 models
For best performance, we recommend 12-volt battery, with 360 amps cold cranking rating at OOF (-1S0C) and 115 minutes reserve capacity rating at SooF (27 C) (70 amphr reference)The important thing to remember is that customer's complaint about poor electric starting may be traceable to battery with specifications not conforming to these recommended specificationsBattery Testing Battery electrolyte is an acidic solution and should be handled with careIf electrolyte is spilled or splashed on any part of the body, immediately flush the exposed area with liberal amounts of water and obtain medical aid as soon as possible1Visual Inspection ""

The first step in determining the condition of battery should be visual inspectionConditions such as broken, cracked or distorted container or cover, loose terminals or evidence of electrolyte seepage may indicate improper care, installation or application of the batteryLook for excessive corrosion on the battery term inals and cablesCheck the battery cables for worn or frayed insu lationReplace cables if necessaryCheck the electrolyte level in each cellIf electrolyte level is below the plates, it is possible the battery is permanently damagedAlso look for dirt, oil or other contaminants floating in the electrolyteThe sources of deficiencies noted in the visual inspection should be located and corrected before installation of new battery
