14Oil and install the thrust bearing and thrust washer on the hub of the reverse gearSlide the reverse gear onto the propeller shaft until it engages the pinion15Oil the forward a-ring on the propeller shaft bearing housing and liberally apply OMC Triple-Guard Grease between the two rear a-ringsInstall the housing in the gearcase with screw holes in vertical positionTap the housing with soft face mallet to seat the -rings16Apply OMC Nut Lock to threads of the two housing retainer screwsPlace the retainers behind holes in the housingInstall the screwsTighten the screws to torque of 24-27 Nm (18-20 ftIbsIf properly installed, large end of the retainers should press against lip of the gearcase housingSmall end of the retainers should be between bosses of the bearing housingretainers have rounded edges on one sideThese retainers should be positioned with the rounded edges facing forward COB 135
