8Hold the gauge against base pins and firmly against and between holes of the bearing housingUsing feeler gaugemeasure the clearance between gauge and pinion9Subtract your measurement from 0,762 mm (0.030") to determine correct shim thicknessUse micrometer to check shim thicknessDo not use more than four shims to obtain the correct thickness10Remove the driveshaft from the tool baseRemove the collar and bearing housing from the driveshaft and add the required shims11 Check correct shimming by reassembling the driveshaft with shims and placing it back into the tool baseYour reading between the gauge and pinion should be 0,762 mm (0.030") 12Degrease tapers of the pin ion and driveshaft prior to assembly COA3568

1I nstall the water intake screenMake sure tabs are up inside water intake cavityInstall and tighten the screw2Locate the propeller shaft assembly and orient the forward bearing housing with the shifter detent toward the topBe sure the thrust bearing and the thrust washer are properly positioned With the filldrain plug removed from the gearcase, insert the propeller shaft assembly into the gearcase as far as possible 3Lubricate new shift rod cover O-ring with OMC TripleGuard GreaseInstall the O-ring into the shift rod coverPlace the shift rod grommet and shift rod spacer (extra long shaft models) on the shift rod Grease the threaded end of the shift rod and insert it through the cover bushing4Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to both sides of new shift rod cover gasket Position the gasket on the gearcaseI nsert the shift rod and cover assembly into the gearcase as shown, and thread the shift rod into the shifter detent about four turnsE u
