Disassembly and Reassembly of Propeller Shaft Assembly100 1To remove the clutch dog pin retain ing spring, begin by locating one end of it and then with small screwdriver, pry the end of the spring out of the grooveContinue to work your way along the spring prying it out of the groove, until its entire length is out of the groove2Push the clutch dog pin out with small screwdriver and separate the propeller shaft from the forward bearing housing and remove the clutch dog from the propeller shaftDiscard the clutch dog pin retaining spring Inspect the clutch dog for excessive rounding of the lugs which may be caused by shifting at excessively high rpm or misadjusted shift linkage3Remove the forward gearthrust bearing thrust washer and needle bearings from the forward bearing housing and clean and inspect the parts4Push downward on the detent lever that the shift rod was threaded into until it "snaps" into its lowest position, then remove the shifter shaft and cradle
