Installing Pinion Bearing65 After the gearcase has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected, install new pinion bearing in the gearcase as follows: 1Assemble the following components of OMC Special Tool PIN 391257 as shown 14-20 12" Hex Head Screw Spacer PIN 326584 1" 0.0Flat Washer Rod PIN 326582 Installer PIN 326575 14-20 1-14" Hex Head Screw Plate PIN 391260
2Place the bearing on the installer tool with the lettered side of the bearing facing the .toolUse OMC Needle Bearing Grease to hold the bearing onto the tool3Insert the tool with the bearing into the gearcase Drive the bearing in the gearcase until the washer on the tool contacts the spacer

4Remove the toolApply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to new pinion bearing retaining screw -ring Position the -ring on the screwInstall the screw into the gearcaseTighten the screw to torque of 5,5-9,0 Nm (48-80 inIbs
Reassembly of Gearcase65
1To install the water intake screen, drop it into the water intake cavity, and push it down as far as it will go with screwdriver or other su itable tool2Locate the propeller shaft assembly and align the forward bearing housing with the shifter detent toward the topPush the shift detent lever down into reverse gear positionBe sure the thrust bearing and thust washer are properly positionedWith the filldrain plug removed from the gearcase, insert the propeller shaft assembly into the gearcase as far as possible3Lubricate new shift rod cover -ring with OMC TripleGuard GreaseInstall the a-ring into the shift rod coverGrease the threaded end of the shift rod and insert it through the cover bushing4Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to both sides of new shift rod cover gasket CD Position the gasket on the gearcaseInsert the shift rod and cover assembly into the gearcase and thread the shift rod into the sh ifter detent about four turns
