7Align hole in the clutch dog with slot in the propeller shaftInstall the clutch dog on the shaft with grooved end of the clutch dog facing forward end of the shaft8I nsert the shifter shaft into the propeller shaft, aligning holes in the shifter shaft, propeller shaft and clutch dogWhen holes are aligned, insert the clutch dog pin into the clutch dog and shifter shaftSecure pin with new retainer springMake certain no coils of the spring overlap9Push the shifter detent down into the reverse positionCOA3591

If the gearcase has been in service for any length of time, it is good policy to install water pump repair kitTo install the repair kit, proceed as follows: 1To rebuild water pump start by removing all of the parts from the housing, inspect the housing for cracks or melting and then install new top plate The top plate locks in place in the housing with square index tab2The liner now slides in and mates with the plate at the point where the liner is split3Run thin bead of OMC Adhesive "M" cement in the seal groove and then install the special shaped O-ring seal4I nstall the water tube grommet with the inside chamfer edge facing upSeat the grommet in the impeller housingSecure the water tube bracket to the impeller housing5Apply thin bead of OMC Adhesive "M" to groove of the impeller housing grommetPlace the grommet in position on the impeller housing
