Reassembly and Installation of Exhaust Housing and Adaptor65 Models 1Clean the adaptor and plate gasket surfacesPlace new gasket on the adaptorPlace the plate on the adaptorI nstall the screws and tighten to torque of 7-9 Nm (5-7 ftIbs 2Slide the seal onto the water tube and install in the inner exhaust housingPlace the inner exhaust housing on the adaptor and platePosition the water tube to align it with the water pumpInstall the screws and tighten to torque of 7-9 Nm (5-7 ftIbs3Before assembling the adaptor to the exhaust housing, refer to Use of Gel Seal II, in Section 4Clean the adaptor and exhaust flange surfaces as outlined in Section Apply Gel Seal II to the exhaust housing flange Assemble the exhaust housing to the adaptorInstall the screws and tighten to torque of 7-9 Nm (5-7 ftIbs4"" Place the lower mounts in the exhaust housingInstall the lower mount coversTighten the screws to torque of 7-9 Nm (5-7 ftIbs5Check the condition of the shift rod seal if necessary
and replace it
6Position the exhaust housing in the sw ivel bracketApply OMC Screw Lock to the threads of the upper mount screwsPosition the ground lead under the port screwInstall the 516" screws and tighten to torque of 20-23 Nm (15-17 ftIbsInstall the 38" screw and tighten to torque of 24-27 Nm (18-20 ftIbs7Apply OMC Screw Lock to the threads of the screws, mount bracket to the lower mountsI nstall the screws and tighten to torque of 32-35 Nm (24-26 ftIbs8While holding the steering handle assembly in place under the steering arm, install the two screws and nutsTighten the nuts to torque of 25-27 Nm (18-20 ft Ibs9Thread the steering handle throttle cable and stop switch wires through the grommet in the lower engine coverPosition the lower engine cover on the exhaust housingInstall the screws, with washers, through the support brackets into the adaptorTighten the screws to torque of 7-9 Nm (5-7 ftIbs10Insta II the gearcase as described in Section 11 Install the powerhead as described in Section 4
