14Thread nuts flush onto the powerhead studs to protect the threads15Place the powerhead in suitable holding fixture and remove all carburation, ignition and electrical components from the powerheadTo simplify reassembly and wiring installation, lay out the various screws and clamps in order of their proper location

Discard all gaskets from the powerhead componentsScrape or peel off the gasket, being careful not to remove any metal with the scraper1Remove the ten screws retaining the intake manifold to the crankcaseTap the manifold around its edge with soft mallet to break the sealRemove the recirculation hose from nipple on the crankcaseSeparate the manifold from the crankcase2Remove the sixteen cylinder head cover screws from each of the cylinder banksRemove the covers from the cylinder heads3If servicing the temperature sender, use tip of small screwdriver to pry the sender out of the cyl inder head4Remove the ten cylinder head screws from each of the cylinder headsSeparate the cylinder heads from the cylinder block".wt
