If the primer is difficult to operate or suspected of not working: 1Remove primer hoses from nipples on the carburetorsInstall hose ends into suitable container to catch fuel2Squeeze fuel tank primer bulb to fill carburetor bowls with fuel3Operate primer pump twiceFuel should squirt from the hoses into the container, indicating primer is functioning4I nspect primer nipple to ensure nipple is free of obstructionsUse OMC Special Tool PIN 326623 (nipple cleaner) to clean the metering hole in nippleThe nipple is pressed into the carburetor body and serviced with the body5If primer pump fails to pump fuel from hoses, restricted or kinked hose or inoperative primer pump may be the cause6Remove hose at small nipple on top side of primer pumpI nspect hose for kinks or obstructions to flowOperate primer pump and watch for fuel squirting from small nipple of primer pump7If primer pump fails to pump, inspect inlet hose between primer pump and carburetor for kinks and obstructions8If hose is open and not kinked, remove and disassemble primer pump assemblyIf the primer pump was not working in the above test, or is externally leaking, replace the -ringsThe three small O-rings are made with special material; use only the proper O-ringsA built-i check valve on the primer housing (under the small nipple) should allow fuel to come out and check in the other direction The fuel inlet check valve allows fuel in the end ofthe plunger and out through the hole in the side of the plungerReplace if damaged or does not functionE u
