Carburetor Cleaning, Inspection and RepairAll Models General Instructions Do not use OMC Engine Cleaner (OMC Engine Tuner) on ru bb er or simi parts" ar Inspect fuel hoses and clampsReplace if deteriorated or damagedCarburetor must be completely disassembled before cleaningDo not expose the float, inlet valve, plastic or electrical parts to carburetor cleanerNEVE clean carburetor by submerging carburetor in hot tank or carburetor cleanerSoaking the carburetor will remove the casting sealing compounds and the sealing compounds used to seal around the metering tubes

Place carburetor parts to be cleaned in shallow empty trayTo prevent eye injury, put on safety glasses or full face shield and spray with an aerosol type carburetor cleanerUse small bristle brush to scrub any gum or varnishUse the nozzle of the aerosol cleaner and spray through metering passagesUsing shop air of not more than 172 kPa (25 psi), blow parts cleanExcessive air pressure can dislodge the sealing compoundsDO NOT dry parts with cloth as lint may cause trouble in the reassembled carburetorBe sure all particles of gaskets are removed from gasket surfacesIf gaskets must be scraped use care not to damage the gasket surface of the carburetor componentsWhen installing new parts from carburetor rebuild kit, inspect gaskets and compare to original gaskets to ensure all holes are correctly punchedAlso, inspect new gaskets for any loose fibers or crumbs of gasket material
