Break-In The 50: mixture is used during break-inUse only Evinrude or Johnson 501 Lubricant or other BIA certified TC-W lubricants at not leaner than 50: ratioOperation (First Hour): For the first 5-10 minutes, operate engine at fast idleCheck operation of water pump frequentlyAt least fine mist should be discharged from exhaust relief outlet and steady stream of water discharged from the overboard water indicatorFor remainder of first hour, engine should be operated at boat planing speedDo not operate engine over 3000 rpm or one-half throttle (approximate)easy-planing boats, bring the boat into planing position with full power and then immediately reduce the throttle setting to approximately 3000 rpm (one-half throttle)BE SURE boat maintains planing attitude at this throttle settingNote

Operation (Second Hour): Bring boat into planing attitude and reduce power to 4000 rpm or three-quarter throttle (approximate) while maintaining planing attitudeAt intervals during the second hour, apply full power for periods of one to two minutes, returning throttle to original setting (4000 rpm three-quarter throttle) for cooling periodAvoid continuous full throttle operation for extended periods during the next eight hours
