cTo check position of floatturn carburetor body upside down, so that weight of the float closes float needleFloat should be parallel and flush with face of casting and at height specified on gauge number 324891 dCheck for correct float drop dimensionSee Figure 3-17 AWith carburetor body in normal running positionthe float must drop open to dimension shown eUsing new gasket, install the flQat chamber to the carburetor body fInstall throttle linkage and cam follower cTighten the packing nut against the packing until the needle can just be turned with finger pressureThe needle valve will be adjusted after the carburetor has been installed on the motorLEAF VALVES aThe importance of keeping the leaves in these valves free from distortion cannot be overemphasizedReplace any leaf or leaf back-up plate which shows any indication of distortion or damagebThe leaf is so designed that it maintains constant contact with the leaf plate until predetermined pressure is exerted against itLeaf travel away from the plate is limited to 14" (6.35 mm) by the leaf back-up plateWhen pressure is removed, the inherent spring action of the leaf segments returns and holds them against the plateAttach the leaf segments and leaf stops to the leaf plate, aligning leaves with marks on plateSee Figure 3-12cExamine each leaf carefullyEach leaf must lie flat against the plate with no edges turned up or away from the plate
