GEARCASE PRESSURE TEST test gearcase sea1ing, proceed as follows: 1Remove drain p1ug and screw in pressure test gauge See Figure 6-13Stevens Experimenta1 pressure test gauge illustrated2pressure to 3-6 pounds (21-42 kPa)Gearcase must ho1d 3-6 pounds (21-42 kPa)If pressure gauge indicates 1eakage, submerge gearcase in water to determine source of 1eakage as evidenced bubblesIf gearcase pressure gauge does not indicate 1eakage, increase pressure to 16-18 pounds (110-124 kPa)Pressure shou1d also ho1d at 16-18 pounds (110-124 kPa)If pressure does not ho1d, submerge gearcase in water and check for source of 1eakageMake necessary repairs and repeat testGearcase must ho1d within the range of 3-6 pounds (21-42 kPa) pressure12 13 I
