kOil and install driveshaft and pmlOn gear in gearcaseStart pinion nut on driveshaft using holding tool (Special Tool #320675)See Figure 6-48Using driveshaft holding socket (Special Tool #316612) and an open end wrench on pinion nut, tighten and torque nut to Specifications, Section 2 Figure 6-46Shift Rod Lube (Long Shaft) Turn vertical shift rod clockwise until it seats in shifter detentThen back out as necessary until top end slants aftShift into NEUTRALUsing shift rod gauge (Special Tool #321200) align appropriate hole in gauge with hole in shift rodInsert pinPin on gauge should enter hole in shift rodSee Figure 6-47Screw shift rod in or out of shifter detent to obtain specified dimensionPull up on rod so clutch dog engages forward gear
