Mark each connecting rod and cap, piston, and bearing component to assure correct mating when they are reassembledAlso mark the cylinder from which piston assemblies are removedkLift crankshaft from cylinder blockSee Figure 5-20Reinstall matched caps on connecting rods and remove pistons and rods from cylinders1Lift retaining ring out of groove and slide aside to remove the crankshaft center main roller bearing for cleaning and inspectionThe top main bearing slides offIf necessary to remove the bottom main bearing, remove Truarc ring and use an appropriate bearing pullerSee Figure 5-20 mRemove the rings from the pistons by prying the ends loose enough to grip them with pliers and then breaking them away from the pistonDO NOT try to save the ringsInstall complete set of new rings on every power head service jobnIf necessary to remove piston from connecting rod, remove wrist pin retaining ringsSee Figure 5-21Use piston cradle (Special Tool #319919) and wrist pin pressing pin (Special Tool #319920)With piston skirt flush with cradle, press out pin using an arbor pressSee Figure 5-22Figure 5-21Removing Piston Pin Retaining Ring
