engine "pops" or ''backfires'' during starting attempts, the ignition timing could be 180 degrees offCheck the following: aSensor Wire PositioningOn the four wire connector between the armature plate and power pack be sure the whiteblack stripe wire is located in the "B" terminal of both connector halvesbIgnition Coil Wire PositioningCheck the three wire connector to be sure the No1 (TOP) ignition coil orange wire is in terminal "B" of connector, and that it mates with the orangeblue stripe wire from the power packNo timing adjustments are necessaryCorrect wire positioning in the three and four wire connectors is all that is required to maintain proper ignition timing
