LEAKAGE TEST Ignition coil and high tension leads may be tested for leakage or insulation failures using the ignition analyzerLeakage is caused by moisturecracks in the coil housing or carbon pathsCOIUlect the coil to the ignition tester per manufacturer instructions Probe entire surface of the coil and high tension leads, flashover will be apparent wherever insulation has broken downReplace any coil which shows leakage See Figure 4-32(High tension lead must be disconnected from tester

aSeparate the three wire connector between the power pack and ignition coilsbCalibrate the ohmmeter to high ohms scaleConnect the meter red lead (+) to the "A" terminal in the ignition coil end of the connector, and the meter black lead (-) to clean engine groundSee Figure 4-33c ,
