IGNITION TEST PROCEDURE NOTE Check the power pack ground wire to be sure it is clean and securely grounded before troubleshootingSPARK TEST aRemove the high tension lead from each spark plugTo prevent damage to the spring terminal on the high t.ension lead, twist and pull on the coverSee Figure 4-13bAdjust the air gap of the spark tester to 1 inch (12 mm) and connect the tester leads to the high tension leadsSecure the other end of the spark tester to clean engine groundSee Figure 4-14

If spark jumps at both gaps, the ignition system
is OKCheck the spark plugs, and other engine systemsIf there is no spark, or only spark at just one gap,
continue the troubleshooting procedureSTOP BUTTON ELIMINATION TEST aSeparate the three wire cOIll1ector between the power pack and ignition coils See Figure 4-15bInsert jumper wire between the "B" terminals of the three wire connectorSee Figure 4-16
