DESCRIPTION The swing arm, gear drive starter engages the flywheel ring gear when the rope handle is pulledA coil spring winds tight as the rope unwinds and recoils the rope around the pulley as the handle is returned to the control panel
Ili?fll NOTE
Never release the handle at end of stroke allowing rope to snap backSerious damage could occurThe starter design incorporates the gear reduction principle to overcome starting effort required when the pistons reach the top of their compression strokes
STARTER REMOVAL
SAFETY WARNING Disconnect electrical connector between armature plate and power pack ': to avoid accidentally starting motorSee Figure 2-1, and section 4aPull the starter rope out far enough to tie slip knot in the ropeUntie knot in end of rope and remove the handle and rubber bumperSee Figure 7-1Figure 7-2 Pulling Spring Out at Cup
