CHARGE COIL OUTPUT TEST aInsert jumper wire to terminal "A" and terminal "D" in the armature plate end, of the four wire connectorSee Figure 4-13bConnect the neon tester leads to the jumper wires as shownSee Figure 4-13cSet neon tester switch to position number 2dWhile holding load button "B" depressed, crank the engine using the starter rope, and observe the light in the neon testerIf the neon light flashes, the charge coil is goodIf there is no light, replace the charge coil and repeat the charge coil output testeContinue the troubleshooting procedureTRIGGER INPUT TEST Check neon tester battery voltage as follows: aModel M-90Connect voltmeter as shown in Figure 4-14Set switch to position 4, and press load button "B"Battery voltage should be minimum of 2-12 volts bModel M-80 or S-80Connect the 1-12 volt battery adapter to the neon tester black lead with (-) negative end toward the neon tester, and connect the voltmeter as shown in Figure 4-15Set switch to position 3, and press load button "B"Battery voltage should be minimum of 2-12 voltscInsert jumper wire between the "A" terminals of both four wire connectorsSee Figure 4-16dInsert jumper wire between the "D" terminals of both four wire connectorsSee Figure 4-16
