When the use of "oil" is specified, we recommend OMC Sea-Lube Premium Blend Gearcase LubeaInstall new seal or oil retainer in the top of the gearcaseApply light coat of OMC Gasket Sealing Compound Part Number 317201 on the outside diameter of new seal or oil retainer and press into the gear case head or bearing retainerLubricate and place new "0" ring in position on gear case headbOil the propeller shaft and slide the gear case head or bearing retainer onto the shaftcPlace the pinion gear in pOSition in the gearcase and the thrust bearing used with the weedless gearcaseThe thrust bearing has small boss on the bottom side which must fit in between two bosses in the gearcaseInstall driveshaft in gear housingdInstall the propeller shaft with gearcase head or bearing retainerThe gearcase head used on the standard gear case has flat surface which must face upSee Figure 6-10The bearing retainer used on the weedless gearcase has match marks which must be aligned with the gearcaseSee Figure 6-13
