ROPE KNOT FORMATION
dPosition knotted end of rope in slot in pulley and coil counterclockwise around pulley flangeSee Figure 7-11If installing new ropelength should measure 64 inchesFuse ends of ropeTie knot in one end of ropeSee Figure 7-14eInstall pulley plate with three screwsPreload pulley spring 3-1 turns by winding pulley counterclockwiseSee Figure 7-12fInsert suitable rod or punch through screw hole in pulley plate as indicated and engage rib in starter housingThis will hold pulley against spring tension while installing rope handleSee Figure 7-13gUncoil just enough rope to feed through forward hole in starter housing, grommet, and rope handleTie knot in rope to retain handleRemove rod or punch, and install remaining plate screwhInstall starter pawl, friction spring, and retaining ringPull rope handle and observe pawl to see that it extends out when rope is pulled and retracts when handle is returned to housing53074
