REASSEMBLY OF EXHAUST HOUSING AND ADAPTER
aIf removed, install water tubes using new grommetsBe sure tubes are aligned properlybInstall lower rubber mount in exhaust housing and secure with retainer plate, screws and lockwashersSee Figure 6-10cSlide inner exhaust housing up through outer exhaust housingdApply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to faces of adapter and exhaust tubeUsing new inner exhaust housing gasket, attach housing to adapterSee Figure 6-10eInstall upper rubber mount and attach adapter to outer exhaust housing, use Permatex #2 between adapter and housingLonger screws are used at front of rubber mountSee Figure 6-11fReassemble exhaust housing and adapter to pivot shaft assembly and tighten all screws to torque specified in Section 2Install thermostat assembly to adapter using new gasket
gAttach lower motor cover to adapter in reverse order of removal
INSTALLAnON OF GEARCASE
aPlace "0" ring on driveshaftApply light coating of OMC Type "A" lubricant to splinesbPlace plastic water tube guides in water pump housing covercApply oil or liquid soap to upper end of shift cable sleevedApply 1000 sealer to gearcase and exhaust housingeInsert length of wire with terminals through shift cable hole in adapter and attach to gearcase shift cable terminalsfCarefully install gearcase making sure water tube guides guide tubes into pump grommets while pulling shift cable through exhaust housing and adapter assemblygDip screws in OMC Gasket Sealing CompoundInstall and tighten to torque specified in Section 2hInstall trim tab and align with marks made at disassemblyiInstall power head as described in Section 5jInstall front and rear exhaust covers
