CHOKE Check the choke for free operationwithout bindingChoke valves must move freely,

LEAF VALVES aThe importance of keeping the leaves in these valves free from distortion cannot be over-emphasizedReplace any leaf valve assembly which shows any indication of distortion or damage of leaf stopCheck leaf plate with scale for distortion
bThe leaf is so designed that it maintains constant contact with the leaf plate, and will spring away from the plate when predetermined pressure is exerted against itLeaf travel away from the plate is limited by the leaf stopWhen pressure is removed, the inherent spring action of the segments returns and holds them against the plateAttach the leaf segments and leaf stops to the leaf plates, then examine each leaf carefullyEach leaf must lie flat against the plate with no edges turned up or away from the plateSee Figure 3-16cAttach the leaf plate assemblies to the intake manifoldscrews to specified torque to avoid distortion of the leaf platesTighten
