CLEANING, INSPECTION, AND REPAIR
Wash parts except rope in solvent such as Solvasol and dry with compressed airRemove any traces of corrosion and wipe metal parts with an dampened clothInspect starter spring end loopsif weak, corroded or crackedIf rope is frayed, inspect hole in

pulleyWind rope clockwise around pulley as face knotUse large rubber band or piece masking tape to hold rope in pulleyLightly coat bushings with and insert in pulley and idler gear armlubricant

Replace spring

Hook end loop of starter spring to and sition pulley and spring in cup and stop assembly with spring extending out through slot in See Figure 7-7dAssemble idler gear, idler gear arm, and spring to pulley and sure to position stop idler gear shaft between the two stops the cup and stop assemblySee Figure 7-8Avoid turning pul1ey and disengaging end of springInsert shoulder screw and assemble starter to power headDo not tighten at this time
