9 AMPERE ALTERNATOR SYSTEM
DESCRIPTION The charging system consists of the alternatorthe rectifier diodes which change the alternating current output of the alternator to direct current, and the battery itselfThe alternator is made up of two partsthe flywheel with cast-in magnetsand the stator assembly which is bolted to the crankcaseThe stator assembly is made up of 12 coils wound over laminated iron coreThe flywheel turns around this assembly, inducing alternating current in the coilsThe rectifier assembly converts the alternating current to direct currentThe rectifier is mounted on the electrical component bracketSee Figure 7-12Figure 7-11Reassembling Starter
