aWash all parts (except switch) In solvent to remove any depositsDry thoroughly, then wipe with an oily rag to leave protective filmbCheck continuity of Instrument Cable leads with test light or continuity meterIf malfunction is indicated, repair or replace cable assemblycConnect test light or continuity meter between the (purple lead) terminal and Neutral (green lead) terminalSee Figure 8-4Operate push buttons from forward to neutral positionThe circuit must indicate open in forward and closed in neutral dLeave the test light or continuity meter connected between the (purple lead) terminal and (green lead) terminalOperate push buttons from neutral to reverse pOSitionThe circuit must indicate closed in both neutral and reverseeConnect the test light or continuity meter between the (purple lead) terminal and Reverse (blue lead) terminalOperate push buttons from neutral to reverse positionThe circuit must indicate open in neutral switch position and closed in reverse switch positionNote that for reverse operation of the gearcase, both the (blue and green lead) are energized activating both solenoids in the gearcasefIf malfunction is indicated, replace the push button switch
