DISASSEMBLY OF STARTER
aPull the starter rope out far enough to tie slip knot in the ropeUntie knot in end of ropeRemove handle and bumperSee Figure 7-5Release the knot, and ease the starter pulley back until the starter drum is fully unwoundbRemove the retaining ring, starter pawl, and friction springSee Figure 7-2cRemove the starter spindle screwHold the pulley down in the housing and lift out the spindleSee Figure 7-3
