TIL FRICTION The tilting friction must be enough to maintain motor in tilted position for beaching, rowing in shallow water, etc but not enough to prevent motor from tilting up in the event the lower unit strikes submerged objectTo adjust friction, tilt motor up as far as it will goThen tighten the friction nut on the stern bracket just enough so that the motor will remain in tilted positionbut can be returned to an upright position with very little pressureSee Figure 6-27STEERING FRICTION Steering friction permits the motor to maintain set course without the steering handle being heldIt can be adjusted by tightening the screw located on the front of the swivel bracket to the desired tensionSee Figure 6-28
