9 AMPERE ALTERNATOR CHARGING SYSTEM
DESCRIPTION The charging system consists of the alte rnatorthe rectifier diodes which change the alternating current output of the alternator to direct current, and the battery itself The alternator is made up of two partsthe flywheel with cast-in magnets, and the st ator assembly which is bolted to the rankcasehe stator assembly is made up of 12 coils wound ove laminated iron coreThe flywh eel turns around this assembly, inducing alternating current in the coilsThe rectifier assembly converts the alternating curr ent to direct currentThe rectifier is mounted on the electrical component bracketSee Figure 7-12Figure 7-11Reassembling Starter
