DESCRIPTION
The new capacitor discharge (CD ignition system, which is standard equipment on the l15 hp model, consists of three major electr onic componentsThese are (1CoU, (2) Sensor, and (3) Pulse Pack AssemblyThe Sensor, located within the distributor, eplaces the bre aker points and condenserSee Figure 4-1The Pulse Pack, which is completely sealed in epoxyIs attached to electrical component bracket at the rear of the power head,

00 NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE PULSE PACK AS THIS WILL VOID THE WARRANTY
To compliment the C.Dignition system, special surface gap spark plugs are usedThese are Champion L-1 9V (OMC Part Numbe 38199 2), or AC V40FF (OMC Part Number 383181)
THEORY OF OPERATION
The transistorized converte in the pulse pack changes the 12 volt battery upply to 300 volts and tores it in the ene rgy storage capacitorThe tnggermg cIrcuit, also in he pulse pack, senses the distributor rotor position and an electronic switchThis disc harges the 300 volt energy from the pul se pack storage capacitor into the coil where it is boosted to the 25000 volts available at the park plugsWhen the torage capacitor has discharged its ene rgy at the spark plug gap, the electronic switch opens and the converter recharges the storage capacitor
