REASSEMBLY OF STARTER TO POWER HEAD aThread thru-bolts through mounting bracket and starter motor assemblyPlace seals over thrubolts, and attach starter and drive assembly to starter motor bracket by tightening thru-boltsbPlace starter motor bracket on crankcase studs Attach brackets to crankcase with screws and nuts cReconnect starter motor lead
lator should become grounded, the battery will become overcharged as noted by excessive use of waterAn undercharged battery will result from an open circuit between the lead from the generator field and the regulatorThe wiring should be visually inspected for damage due to corrosion, frayed insulation and loose connectionsGENERATOR OUTPUT TEST Ground the generator field terminal by connecting jumper wire between the generator blue lead and the generator bracket screwRun the motor at 2500 rpmAmmeter should indicate reading over 10 ampsSee Figure 7-15GENERATOR AND REGULA TOR Place voltmeter across the battery terminals, using 15 volt DC scale or higherThe voltmeter should indicate battery voltage (12.6 volts for fully charged battery)With the voltmeter still connected across the battery terminals, run the engine in test tank or on the boat at about 3500 rpm or about 34 throttleObserve meter readings and compare with Charging Circuit Check Chart to locate trouble in charging system
