uPush the lower grommet into the water intakeInstall the water intake while positioning the upper grommet in the receptacle provided for it in the gearcasevAttach the water intake assembly with four screwswInstallation of Water Pump1 Apply Perfect Seal to both sides of impeller housing plate gasket and pOSition on extensionAttach plate with short hex head screw in aft port side corner of plateAlign plate with holes but do not tighten screwInstall impeller over key in driveshaft with either side up if installing new impellerInstall pump housing using seal protection sleeveOil impeller blades and rotate driveshaft clockwise while sliding housing over impellerTighten all screwsSlide extension tube over driveshaft with marked end facing upPosition new "0" ring in groove below splines on driveshaft
fCheck shift cable leads with an ohmmeter or ammeter to test for an open circuit or short between leadsA short between leads could cause both forward and reverse gears to engage at the same timeConnect the forward coil green lead to the ohmmeter and ground the other ohmmeter lead to the motorIf circuit is correct, the ohmmeter will read ohms resistanceIf an ammeter is used for this check reading of 2.0 to 2.4 amps should be obtainedreading will be obtained if circuit is broken or if the coil is openSee Figure 6-38If the reading is less than ohns, the coil or the coil lead is shortedTest reverse coil circuit the same way by measuring between the blue lead and groundgSecure shift cable to power head with thermostat screw and clampConnect leads and slide insulating sleeves over terminalshAttach rear exhaust and lower motor coversConnect exhaust relief boot
