SYNCHRONIZING CARBURETOR AND DISTRIBUTOR LINKAGE To assure proper spark advance at all throttle settings, carburetor and distributor must be synchronized after distributor linkage has been reassembledFollow the instructions given in Section 4, "Synchronizing Carburetor and Distributor Linkage ADJUSTING LOW-SPEED NEEDLES Since the fixed high-speed jets are non-adjustable, it is necessary to adjust only the low-speed needles on this carburetorBefore needles are set, float levels should be checked and idle restrictors and orifice plugs (high-speed jets) should be cleaned as described in this sectionTiming and synchronization of carburetor and distributor must also be checked before adjusting the carburetoraBefore starting the motor, center the low-speed control knob link; then remove all four knobsbGently seat each low-speed needle by turning clockWise, then back out 58 turnReplace the four control knobs, but do not alter the setting on the needlecStart motorNOTE Allow motor to reach normal operating temperature by running in tank with test propeller at one-half throttle or slightly more before proceeding to next step Figure 3-31Idle Screw Adjustment
