REMOVAL OF FUEL PUMP AND FILTER Disconnect hoses from and filter assembly
OIL DRAIN VALVE
The drain valve ordinarily requires little or attention; however, when servicing the motor, remove and clean the drain valve, and screensSee Figure 3-28If gum or varnish is found in the crankcase during servicing, clean the drain valve plate assemin Accessory Engine Cleaner, as it is likely that gum and varnish have also been deposited there
remove fuel filter, remove screw and cover attaching filter to fuel See Figure 3-27remove fuel remove two screws attaching to power head, and remove assemblySee Figure 3- 27
CLEANING, INSPECTION, AND REPAIR
The fuel operating components are not serviced separatelyIf ma1function occurs, place the complete Clean parts of the filter assembly and fuel connectors in solvent and blow dryDO NOT dry parts with cloth, as lint stick to the parts and clog the passages or prevent the fuel valves from seatingDissolve any gummy deposits with Accessory Engine Cleaner (certain solvents will not dissolve these deposits)NOTE It is recommended that new fuel filter element and gasket instaHed when servicing the filter assembly
