dTighten set screws and check operation of choke under normal running conditionsNOTE DO NOT attempt to check the operation of an automatic choke unless the motor has cooled to room temperature (70 )Operation of the choke during starting and warming-up cycles cannot be tested accurately on warm motorUsually motor temperature will be normalized sufficiently if the motor has been allowed stand for one hour with the cover off or two hours with the cover on FUEL PUMP AND FILTER
Figure 3-26Fuel Pump, Filter, and Hoses cLoosen set screws and adjust the quadrant two or three notches leaner or richerThe actual amount of adjustment will vary, depending on temperature variations and also from one motor to anotherSee Figure 3-25Before starting fuel pump repair, remove, clean, and reinstall the fuel filter attached to the pumpSee Figure 3-26Also remove the fuel hose from the fuel tank and blow through all passages and lines with compressed air to be sure they are openIf clogged lines are the cause of the difficulty, this procedure would eliminate unnecessary servicing of the fuel pumpIf not, fuel pump valves may be stuck or the pump diaphragm may be ruptured
