dRemove distributor cap and gasket from housing, and remove rotorSee Figure 4-7NOTE DO NOT misplace carbon brush and spring located in center cavity of capCheck ventilating screens in capeDisconnect coil primary leads from insulated screw terminal and retainer spring screwRemove retainer springs and lift coil from housingSee Figure 4-8fDistributor shaft bearings are easily damaged if the shaft is pressed from the magneto housing, as any stress applied will be placed on critical area of both bearingsTherefore do not attempt to remove the shaft unless it is certain that the bearings are in need of cleaning or inspectionCheck for wear and dirt in the bearings by rotating the shaft
